Driven by the "Dual Carbon" strategy, a critical breakthrough has been achieved in the material revolution of the wire and cable industry. Recently, a fully automated production line for "220kV Thermoplastic Polypropylene (PP) Insulated Cable", jointly developed by the State Grid Electric Power Research Institute and several leading domestic companies, officially commenced operations in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. This technology abandons the traditional cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) process, which requires chemical cross-linking and is difficult to recycle. Instead, it utilizes a novel modified polypropylene material, allowing the cables to be completely melted and recycled at the end of their life cycle, achieving a green circular economy. The entire production line is integrated with online monitoring and AI defect diagnosis systems, ensuring the product's long-term stability under ultra-high voltage. This move signifies that China has broken the long-term foreign technological monopoly in the field of environmentally friendly high-voltage cables, providing core equipment support for the green upgrade of the power grid.
