In December 2025, the Central European Power Grid Interconnection Project jointly initiated by Germany, France and the Netherlands launched the tender for 400kV flexible DC cables. With a total investment of 3.5 billion euros, the project plans to construct a 1200-kilometer cross-border cable line connecting the backbone power grids of the three countries. The tender requires the cables to have high flexibility and low loss characteristics, support the efficient consumption of new energy power, and have a rated transmission capacity of not less than 2000MW. Eight enterprises including China XJ Group, Sweden's ABB, and Germany's Siemens participated in the bidding, and the bid-winning results will be announced in March 2026. After the completion of the project, it will realize the cross-regional allocation of clean energy such as wind power and photovoltaic in Central Europe, reduce carbon emissions by more than 8 million tons annually, and help the EU achieve its "carbon neutrality" goal.
