In December 2025, India's Ministry of Power released the national UHV power grid upgrading plan and launched a centralized procurement project for 1000kV AC UHV cables, with a total scale of 32 billion yuan and an estimated procurement length of over 8,000 kilometers. Focusing on transmission efficiency and environmental performance, the procurement requires the cable's conductive loss to be less than 0.02Ω/km, adopting low-smoke halogen-free flame-retardant materials, and the toxicity index during combustion to comply with the IEC 61034 standard. Twelve enterprises including China Pinggao Group and India's RPG Cables participated in the bidding, and the bid-winning results will be announced in January 2026. After the completion of the project, the power transmission efficiency between the thermal power base in northern India and the load center in southern India will increase by 40%, reducing carbon emissions by over 12 million tons annually.
