In response to global supply chain restructuring and to circumvent potential trade barriers, Chinese wire and cable companies are accelerating the transfer of production capacity to Southeast Asia. Leading companies such as Zhongtian Technology and Hengtong Optic-Electric recently announced investments in establishing new production bases in Vietnam and Thailand, with total investment expected to exceed $1 billion. The new factories will focus on producing cables for consumer electronics, automotive wiring harnesses, and medium-to-low voltage power transmission, mainly supplying North American, European, and local markets. This layout not only effectively utilizes relatively low local labor costs and tariff incentives but also positions production closer to downstream customers for rapid response. Industry analysts believe that Southeast Asia is transforming from a traditional raw material supplier into an emerging strategic hub for global wire and cable manufacturing and export.
