Global's First Dedicated Hydrogen Energy Cable Enters Mass Production; Hydrogen Embrittlement-Resistant Technology Solves New Energy Transmission Challenges

In December 2025, Jiangsu Hengtong Optic-Electric Co., Ltd. announced the mass production of the world's first dedicated hydrogen energy cable. Developed for scenarios such as hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and hydrogen refueling stations, the product overcomes core technical bottlenecks including hydrogen embrittlement corrosion and high-pressure sealing. Adopting a hydrogen barrier cross-linked polyethylene insulation layer with nano-ceramic reinforcing agents, the cable can withstand 35MPa hydrogen pressure in the operating temperature range of -40℃ to 120℃, reducing hydrogen permeability by 92% compared with traditional cables and extending service life to over 15 years. Certified by the ISO 19880-3 standard for hydrogen energy system cables, the product has secured supporting orders from Toyota and Hyundai Motor, with an annual production capacity of 500,000 kilometers, which will support the upgrading of the transmission link in the global hydrogen energy industry chain.
