On November 12, 2025, the Southeast Asia-Hainan (China)-Hong Kong (China) (SEA-H2X) international submarine cable project successfully landed in Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong, marking the official start of construction for the Hong Kong section. The entire line is expected to be completed within 2025. Jointly invested and constructed by China Mobile, China Unicom, the Philippines' Converge ICT, and other parties, and undertaken by Huawei Marine Networks, the project has a total length of approximately 6,000 kilometers, equipped with 8 pairs of trunk optical fibers and a system design capacity exceeding 200 Tbps, closely connecting Hainan, Hong Kong of China with the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore.

Adopting the industry-leading Open Cable access technology, the project supports spectrum sharing and deploys a number of cutting-edge underwater core equipment, ensuring ultra-large transmission capacity while improving operational safety and network reliability. As the largest investor, China Mobile will construct 4 pairs of trunk optical fibers and multiple branch sections, and will obtain no less than 100 Tbps of exclusive bandwidth after commissioning. It will coordinate with existing submarine cable resources such as SJC and APG to build a backbone connection network with 10 routes in the Asia-Pacific region. Relying on this landing, China Unicom will further strengthen the regional hub status of the Tseung Kwan O L2 landing station in Hong Kong, facilitating the interconnection of digital infrastructure in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
