In the international tender for the Saudi Red Sea New City infrastructure project, a consortium formed by Hengtong Optic-Electric and a local Saudi company won a cable supply contract worth $1.8 billion. The contract includes 500kV submarine cables, medium-voltage distribution cables, and intelligent building wiring systems, all requiring simultaneous compliance with UL, IEC, and Saudi SASO certification standards. Hengtong will establish a localized production base in Saudi Arabia's Jazan Economic City, scheduled to commence operations by the end of 2026 with an annual capacity of 30,000 kilometers.
