UL/ETL Standards Tighten in 2025 with New PFAS & Flame Test Rules
2026-05-07 09:36:21

North American certification bodies have updated requirements for power cords and hook-up wires. Key changes include stricter UL 758 & UL 1581 compliance with enhanced VW-1 flame tests. Crucially, new PFAS (forever chemicals) restrictions by the US EPA and EU require suppliers to submit third-party lab reports. For manufacturers exporting to the US and Canada, integrating LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) and PFAS-free materials is no longer optional but mandatory to maintain UL/ETL listing and avoid customs rejection.
